Summer evening sunshine on the campsite.

CAMPING INFORMATION

Experience nearly wild camping on the rugged and beautiful island of Portland, Dorset. By day, spot kestrels soaring above, owls in flight, and wildflowers dotting the landscape. With zero light pollution, the nights offer unforgettable stargazing beneath vast, clear skies.

We keep things super simple here, with minimal facilities to ensure as little impact on the land as possible. You’ll find handcrafted compost toilets (don’t forget your own toilet paper, just in case!) and cold water taps in each field. Our ‘token run’  hot showers add a little extra comfort after a day of adventure.

For a truly unique experience, why not explore the island on horseback? As part of a working riding school, we offer guests the opportunity to book horse rides and see Portland from a new perspective. Please contact Sue on 0797 666 1838 to discuss your booking or visit chesilequestrian.co.uk

Be ready for wild weather and dramatic skies—this is real camping, close to nature, with breathtaking coastlines all around.
